For the second year in a row, the Tempo restaurant has been awarded a 4-Diamond rating for the year 2008 by the American Automobile Association. This is great news because it means the staff has done a masterful job of maintaining the high standards required by this world-wide, 51-million member organization, despite undergoing a massive remodeling that includes new furnishings, decorative scheme and, most importantly, a drastic change in the basic fare offered. Tempo now is the finest example of Contemporary Mediterranean fare in all of the Mexican Caribbean.
The 4-Diamond Award plaque was given to the Assistant Director of Sales, Manuel Sarracho, by Tony Perrone, AAA’s Manager of Publications for Mexico and several states in the Northeastern U.S. He was unstinting in his praise for the restaurant and pointed out that AAA editors rate more than 28,000 dining establishments in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean every year.
BARELY THREE PERCENT QUALIFY FOR THE 4-DIAMOND AWARD.
The ceremony took place at a great cocktail party offered on Friday, January 25th attended by many of the local gentry, local, national and international press and Gran Meliá Cancún General Manager, Ralf Salomon, along with executives of the other Sol Melia Group hotels located in the Mexican Caribbean. To paraphrase a song title from the Broadway and Hollywood musical, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, in this case, “Diamonds are a Guest’s Best Friend.” They are a guarantee of first class dining in terms of food, service and ambience.
